Team National Participates in the Direct Selling Summit

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Recently, Team National along with over 26 other direct selling companies proudly participated in and shared first-hand industry perspective in the first-ever Direct Selling Summit on Capitol Hill. Team National representatives included Executive Vice President Phil Chrysler, along with Eagle Winners Robert & Donna Fason, Randy & Debbie Weekley and Brad Barton who joined forces to communicate their knowledge and experience in the direct selling industry with Congress and their staffs.

While on the Hill, attendees renewed their commitment to the highest standards of ethical business practices, innovation and customer service by signing the Direct Selling Proclamation and Compact.  The proclamation was proudly displayed throughout the day to remind participants, as well as bystanders and others on Capitol Hill, of the role direct selling plays in the economy and in the lives of millions of men and women across the country.

“We thought it important that we, at least indirectly, answer some of the misinformation and myths that are out there to make sure that they don’t grow or, more importantly, end up a part of legislation here in Washington, D.C., or the states that could affect direct selling businesses negatively,” said DSA President Joseph Mariano. “That is why it is more important than ever that we bring our folks to Washington so that Members of Congress and their staffs, as well as regulatory agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission, can gain a better understanding of who we are—that, in fact, we represent a diverse population of people from all around the country, diverse motivations, different demographic backgrounds, races, religions.”

“We had a great time meeting with the DSA and our Arkansas congressmen today. They all had great things to say about our industry,” says Robert Fason.

“EYES WIDE OPEN - This is BIG!!! Today's gathering of direct selling field leaders is unprecedented! We are honored and humbled to be here,” says Brad Barton.

“Awesome day today. Phil is in DC for the first Direct Selling Day on the Hill with awesome leaders sharing our great message of hope! You don't have to go to DC to share our hope. Shout it out,” says Team National President & CEO Angela Loehr Chrysler.

“Team National is making a positive difference in the lives of thousands of “At-Risk” children. We cannot thank them enough for all they have done for those youth in need. Because they care, our children are living in a better world”…Matt Organ, EVP, Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.

Team National President & CEO Angela Loehr Chrysler Connects on Capitol Hill

DAVIE, FL - Team National President & CEO Angela Loehr Chrysler recently attended an exclusive trip to Washington, D.C. for a special direct selling event on Capitol Hill. This annual Direct Selling Association (DSA) event provided a unique opportunity for industry executives to share their knowledge and perspective with Congressional and Senate offices regarding the direct selling industry and specifically, how it impacts the US. There are 16 million direct sellers in the US, generating $30 billion in sales. A majority of Americans, approximately 74%, have purchased from a direct seller before.

This year’s event included a “Day on the Hill” which followed a women’s leadership retreat that is invitation-only, where ladies connect and communicate with one another on what is going on in their companies. This elite group of 21 women met with Congressional and Senate staff about the role of the direct selling industry and the impact it has in America. There was open discussion on the topic of what’s keeping you up at night and how to overcome it. Then, Angela shared with several lawmakers what Team National’s Independent Marketing Directors (IMDs) are saying via social media. Comments received on Team National’s Facebook page for example, mentioned that direct sales and Team National are helping them make ends meet and in other cases they’re even earning extra income and having additional choices, including time freedom. Other Team National IMDs comments were that with their new found time freedom, their kids can participate in extracurricular activities or even bring mom home.

During a luncheon, all executives agreed that being on the Hill is an energizing and powerful feeling. In the legislators’ offices, you can already get a sense of pride they have for what they do as lawmakers.

“I was honored and proud to represent Team National and the industry. As an American, I had a lot of pride simply being there to give my input. Washington, D.C. is such a hustle and bustle environment and reminded me that we are in the greatest country in the world,” says Chrysler.
